[硬件] RAID Card

RAID Card

D features...

I am using 9266-8i with a power module (to prevent data loss in case of sudden power outage), that is for an array of 5*8TB drives with RAID 6.

As you mentioned, 4i/8i means how many drives you can connect to it internally.
The most important difference among the cards is the RAID-on-chip processor.
For example, it maybe illusive to believe 9341 > 9266, however, note that 9341 uses 3008 which doesn't support hardware RAID 5/6,
while 2208 on 9266 does.
Other difference are RAM (DDR2/3, size) and PCI-E lane speed, maybe slightly faster/slower processor by clock rate.
For example, iirc, 9271 is pretty much 9266 with a slightly faster processor.

I am not an expert, my suggestion is to stick with the cards which are more commonly available (unless you have a vendor contact), this makes it easier to buy accessories and maybe replacement.
The common model for an older card is 9266-Xi, and the newer one is 9361-Xi. There maybe newer versions than these as well.

Last but not least, make sure you provide active cooling - these cards, as you may already know, are designed to work in a server rack where air is blown from the front through the whole chassis.
Installing these in a desktop chassis without the strong air flow through the heat sink can heat the chip up to 100C and kill them prematurely. My way is to tie a small fan onto the heatsink (carefully not to apply too much tension), and I can keep mine running (with loading) at ~50C. It looks like this:

If you use HDD raid system, reserve for raid 6 systems not raid 5.

Or if you have only four drives, you may want to consider RAID 10.
