Not sure about laptop, as Thunderbolt 3 is one major reason sticking to Intel for now;
but for desktop I think it is a very viable choice.

Intel will announce 16/18 core variants at *double* the price, however they have a rather low base clock (2.8 GHz vs 3.4 GHz of TR), I doubt they could be a clear winner even in gaming.
*They will try to trick the public into thinking they are better by having a specific boost at 4.4GHz for quad-core only.

1GHz之下single core，cinebench r15個分
(note that single threaded score should not be used to project the multithreaded score, as Intel has better clock boost over AMD)
Skylake-X = 60.2
Zen = 56.4

Intel Skylake-X 7960X @ 2.8 GHz
60.2*16*2.8 = 2696.96

Threadripper 1950X @ 3.4 GHz
56.4*16*3.4 = 3068.16

Intel 去到 7980XE 18 core @ 2.6 GHz都重輸少少，而價錢就double

Here in Canada every single mainboard sold out......(except for Gigabyte but I hate it, and later it was also gone).
I am bitching around blaming Asrock for not having enough stock. Talked to their representative, won't be in stock until Aug-24, what's the point for me to have the CPU now (got it shipped).

*In Canada the CPUs are still available as the boards are gone too early.

But this is a number comparable to low ends like G1840...
If not due to it being out of stock on Amazon, it should be within top 5.

呢個月賣幾萬粒都和味了
