These charts show the intercore latencies of different CPUs, including a 3700X, 2700X and a 3900X.
It reveals (not to my surprise) that 3700X's has two CCX of 4+4 core, and 3900X has four CCX of 3+3+3+3.
Looking at 3900X's chart, you will see that there are only 3 cores with small latency, and the use of any extra core is going to introduce a tripled latency.
The problem is then any applications currently optimized to use 4 cores will need to access the extra core and could be significantly slower. This is likely to generate a problem in certain games.
As a result, I think I will instead get the 3950X.
