install iBus from Ubuntu Software Center(in case you don't have it),
then search "ibus quick", install the ibus-quick 3.
Then maybe restart(may not needed),
after that, Preference, Keyboard input methods,
go to the tab of "Input Method", see Chinese, quick 3, add.
Then you should see the iBus icon at the notification area, first active the windows you are typing(like you do in Windows), then click on that icon, select the input method and you are done.

how do you input Chinese on ubuntu using methods other than quick/changjei?

會有廣東話輸入法

都可以 search 到 ...
