8C IB-E may be not of low freq.
someone posted SB-E Xeon (2CPU) running 3GHz and did some CPU intensive benchmarks, and surpassed the performance of X5590 x2 quite a portion.

but 3G @ 8core v.s. 3.4G @ 4core.....

4 core SB-E => 3.6GHz, should be a better deal than 2600K if similar price tag.
Otherwise, 2600K.
