Both Sony and Microsoft are considering new consoles

In a speech to reporters, he said that the Xbox One could see a future in which it is upgraded, rather than replaced by new consoles. Spencer was talking about how Microsoft has sought to align its Windows 10 and Xbox One development activities under the internal "Universal Windows Platform" while offering backwards compatibility for many Xbox 360 games, now playable on Xbox One. He was addressing the concerns of some Xbox One owners that the exclusives destined for that console are appearing on PC, thus eroding the value of owning a console.
But he went much further than merely outlining internal strategies for cross-platform efficiency. SCE Executive Vice President Masayasu Ito told Japanese publication 4Gamer that the company is considering several ideals for the future of the PS4, and one of those ideas is a new PS4 console with more powerful hardware. 引用:According to a report from Kotaku, Sony has briefed several developers on a new PS4 console, currently codenamed PS4.5. The updated PS4 console supposedly has better graphics and hardware, in order to make 4K games a reality on the console.
Additionally, the added power would make for better VR games, since VR requires frame rates of 90+ in order to deliver a smooth experience. 果然係唔會有7-8年life span
