Just for your reference, I am biased to building a DIY NAS with FreeNAS when it goes up to 4k.

Just realized for a 4-Bay config, RAID 6 is meaningless, so for the 4-Bay setup, it seems either RAID 0,1 or 5 is to be considered, with only 1 being safe enough if you are using drives >2TB each, so list updated as below, using Intel RST for RAID 0,1,5.
