[硬件] i7-4770k vs i7-4820k

i7-4770k vs i7-4820k

Which should I pick for a gaming platform?

On Jumbo 480k is $200 cheaper, but overall performance of them are very close.
Intel X79 it seems more RAM can be installed, and more slots usable (more lanes for PCI-E)......any idea?

Not if I consider high end z87 boards like ROG, they still cost similar.
After some research it seems Haswell runs better in most cases with new micro-architecture,
and the z87 boards are mostly better in quality with more choices, I picked 4670k, 800 cheaper but just 5% slower in most games.
And for the RAM, it sounds 1866 C9 would be the right thing.

My brother who has just finished his Police training is asking me for a list;
a new rig must be a good thing to get after the 6-month torture.

Why use high end Z87?
You need to OC and use a lot of extension card?

Not me, but it seems my brother would expect overclocking ability, somehow.
This is just the highest end suggestion to him, chance is good he would think it's too expensive and ask for cost cutting.

Actually would it have any difference to use a mid end board for overclocking?
I don't think he is getting a 2nd graphic card (and the PSU looks too weak for that)

No need to use top model if you don't need to use up all PCI-E slot.
(If you prefer Intel LAN, then just go for SABERTOOTH )

Thanks, I think it makes more sense to use this.

How come, are you sure it is the NIC but not the router being the cause?
I used to transfer files between workstation and laptop, >60MB/s, never had a problem.

LAN connection by 3Com switch, not related to router. at the same time, other computers and mobiles can access internet, so i think it's NIC problem.

I see, that's strange.
Do you mean the internet was down when you are transferring the files?
And the computer was still functional, i.e. not frozen/laggy at that point?

Do you mean the internet was down when you are transferring the files? <- yes, but coping big files inside LAN, e.g. 10GB or up, but only my computer, other computers are no problem
And the computer was still functional, i.e. not frozen/laggy at that point? <- yes, just internet capability cut

or i don't know is it switching hub problem rather than NIC problem
