I think Ryzen is great if one needs to do parallel computation with CPU, it definitely kills off 6900k completely. (except for memory hungry task)
However, in gaming it is significantly slower than 7700k, where the latter costs almost just half with the price drop.

Only if the games support more than 4 threads.
With most games which do not use more than that, there is no magic from a lower IPC, lower core clock Ryzen.
